Kevin has a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in the state of Virginia. He has also been awarded the Dean’s Distinction for Superior Contribution in Public Service at George Mason University. For over a decade he has worked in the mental health field; primarily in the treatment of substance use disorders in a variety of settings. Kevin has managed IOP and PHP programs in the treatment of addiction and has been passionate about working with that population throughout his career.
As a counselor, Kevin brings a trauma-informed approach to his work with clients. He borrows techniques from various modalities, utilizing them integratively to meet client needs. Kevin is formally trained in Internal Family Systems therapy. He is known for the strong level of empathy and compassion he brings into sessions with clients. Kevin’s guiding philosophy in his work with others is that there are no hopeless cases. He truly believes each individual holds great capacity for change and that his role is to empower individuals to change from the inside out. When not providing counseling services, Kevin finds significant purpose as a father. Kevin loves to skateboard when he has the opportunity, and values balance in his daily life.
