Samer Yafi, BS, CSAC-S

Resident Substance Use Counselor

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”

– Helen Keller

Samer received a formal education at GMU, studying for his Bachelors of Science in Psychology while interning at George Mason and bringing awareness of addiction into the school. Currently under supervision to obtain a Certified Substance Abuse Counseling (CSAC) certificate, Samer has been in the field of Substance Use and Mental Health since 2014.

He has over 10 years of professional experience in substance use treatment in Northern Virginia ranging in experience from residential treatment centers to outpatient counseling and case management. A big advocate for recovery, Samer doesn't shy away from debating with anyone on the stigma following addiction and mental health that continues to plague neighborhoods, counties, cities, and countries as a whole. Samer found his true calling in the field of addiction after a lucrative career in IT.

Samer understands his clients hold the key to their recovery; he just helps light the way so they can unlock their full potential.

An audiophile who’s always on the hunt for new records to buy, reading books on his Kindle, biggest fan of his wife and dog, and a big techie, Samer’s belief is cultivating that which binds us and understanding that which separates us.
