Sky Simmons
M.A.

Sky is a creative and warm clinician currently completing her counseling residency in the state of Virginia. She obtained her masters in art therapy and counseling from George Washington University. She has training and experience working with neurodiverse populations, LGBTQ+ individuals, and clients across the lifespan from adolescents to older adults. She also works with depression, anxiety, and life transitions. She values collaboration in the counseling relationship and strives to ensure each client’s care suits their unique needs.

In her practice, Sky structures sessions to include a blend of art therapy and traditional therapy modalities to maximize clients’ opportunities for self-expression. She believes that art-making and creativity in the therapy space opens doors for processing and client self-insight. Sky also welcomes those interested in participating in talk therapy and supports their needs with multiple therapy modalities including narrative therapy, CBT, and DBT. She seeks to have each client feel understood and valued in the therapeutic space, no matter what therapeutic method they find most helpful.

Beyond her work as a therapist, Sky embraces art-making as a form of self-care and expression. She enjoys painting, collaging, and sculpting in her free time. Sky also enjoys connecting with nature on walks and hikes and exploring the communities around her by trying new coffee shops.
