Sarah Carter
LPC
Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. Sarah has experience in multiple settings including schools, community mental health, and residential settings working with a diverse range of clients including children, adolescents, young adults, families (including military families), and couples.
Sarah has supported clients as they navigate through a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, life transitions and emerging adulthood, low self-esteem, parenting skills, grief and loss, trauma, and relational concerns. She utilizes an eclectic approach, but draws mostly from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Kazdin’s Parent Management Training (KPMT), as well as a person-centered and strengths-based methods. She aims to empower the client and believes that clients are the experts in their own lives. Sarah strives to create a warm, safe space for clients to express themselves, process their emotions, and work towards reaching their therapeutic goals.
Sarah consistently seeks opportunities to develop both clinically and professionally. She holds a Clinical Military Counseling Certificate (CMCC) and is currently working towards becoming a Clinical Supervisor in the state of Virginia for residents seeking LPC licensure. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, scrapbooking, spending time with her cats, and exploring with her family.
