Anu Mathew, PMHMP
Anu Mathew is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensed in Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Norwich University. Anu most recently practiced as the Medical Director at an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), where she provided psychiatric care, medication management, individual therapy, and group facilitation. Her expertise is in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, sleep, substance use disorder among other conditions.
At the heart of Anu’s practice is an enduring curiosity about each individual she encounters. With over 20 years of experience in bedside nursing and clinical care, she believes that true healing begins with presence, empathy, and respect, often before a single word is spoken. Her client-centered approach honors each person’s unique story and blends psychosocial and pharmacological care using a multimodal model. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), family education, and peer support systems.
